WELCOME
to
12th Ashton (St.Ann's) Scout Group
The Group formed in 1979 with just a small number Cub, since then our numbers have continued
to grow. We now have a total number of 88 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
Our Headquarters is on a large housing estate in the town of Ashton-under-Lyne, which is in
Tameside in Lancashire, England. The group is situated in what would be considered a poor area,
our Headquarters was originally an Army Barracks and was moved to it's present location by the
Salvation army in the 1920's, it is constructed entirely of timber with the outside more recently being
covered in a metal cladding, although the outside of our Headquarters has quite a respectable
appearance, our main activities hall is in need of repair, the inner roof is in very bad shape
and our lighting is damaged, we also have considerable trouble with mice, we are unable to protect
the tents that we have from the mice and they are slowly eating them.
We as Leaders of the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts like to take them camping, but this will soon
be impossible due to the damage being done to the tents by the mice.
If there are any Companies or anybody out there that can help us in any way, you would make a lot of children very
happy, we are not asking for much, just the chance to be able to take our children away for the
weekend and keep dry, a few of our tents now leak and we do not have suitable lighting or a dinning tent for them
to eat in.
